Environmental Policy Statement
We pledge responsible energy development for
the West. With roots in the Black Hills since 1883, we’re
long-term players. We express our commitment
to and our energy for the West through our
relationships with customers, shareholders and
business partners, as well as through our respect
for our land, water and air.
Environmental regulatory standards are high for
good reason. In developing and operating our
power plants, our gas and oil wells and pipelines,
and our coal mine, we comply with the spirit as
well as the letter of the law.
We build mine-mouth, coal-fired power plants and natural gas plants that are among the cleanest in the nation. Tribal taxes and fees from our
oil and gas operations go to the Southern Ute
and Jicarilla Apache Nations, and support their
communities, programs and reservation lands
in Colorado and New Mexico, respectively.
Economic development grants through our
Company and the Black Hills Corporation
Foundation, in combination with our individual
employees’ generous efforts, enhance the quality
of life and the well-being of the communities we
serve. Our corporate governance policies and
practices reflect our commitment to honesty,
strong values, and service. Responsibility and
trustworthiness are pillars upon which we’ve built
Black Hills Corporation. Now and in the future,
you can count on us.
